Don’t Just Throw Away Your Personal Information—Shred It!
On Saturday, October 8, the Adolfo Camarillo High School Recycle Club and the Pleasant Valley Recreation and Park District will host a secure paper-shredding event at the Camarillo Community Center, 1605 Burnley Street, from 9 a.m. to 12 noon. Thanks to a partnership with RSI Shredding, this free program is available to all City residents and businesses. Discarding personal and confidential information with your trash is a dangerous practice that can lead to identity theft. Shredding documents that contain Social Security numbers and other identifying information, including credit card statements, applications, receipts, medical records, bank statements, tax and other legal documents, is one of the best ways to protect your personal and financial information. A per-customer maximum of six boxes or 12 grocery bags of paper—no trash, please—will be shredded at no charge. There will be a $4 charge for each additional box. Documents will be shredded onsite in a specially marked RSI shredding truck before delivery to a recycling center.
